Casa Tolentino has arisen from the restoration of the monastery founded in 1618 by the Augustinians and it is now run by the cooperative "San Nicola da Tolentino"

The Casa Tolentino is the result of the Napolixenìa project financed by Fondazione CON IL SUD, which sets for itself the aim to enhance the area of the Quartieri Spagnoli and integrate and employ its inhabitants.

The goal is to create an opportunity for emancipation and redemption through employment in the tourism sector and the promotion of the enormous heritage of art, traditions, and popular culture that only a few districts/areas have managed to preserve.

The project's goals

The idea is that our history, traditions, and culture are a unique source of wealth and an opportunity for the local community and its visitors An opportunity to give their dignity back to these places and to the people who lead their lives here.

Our cooperative,

TheCooperativa San Nicolas da Tolentino, was founded in 2014 as a spin off of the Cooperativa Sociale La Paranza, the protagonist of the project San Gennaro Extra Moenia: a door between past and future for the enhancement of the historical and artistic resources of Rione Sanità

The project leader for managing the start-up for both these projects is The AltraNapoli Onlus which, in close collaboration with La Paranza, exports the winning model of the Catacombs of San Gennaro and the related activities to other urban contexts. Today the Catacombs of San Gennaro are, in fact, one of the most visited sites in the city.

Precisely because of these capacities our cooperative firmly believes in the reproducibility of the Rione Sanità experience in the monumental complex that the Community of the Vincentian Fathers has handed over to be managed.
